The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, formerly known as the Baltimore Zoo, is home to more the 1,500 animals
from about 200 species.  The zoo in Maryland offers attractions such as Polar Bear Watch, Maryland
Wilderness, Children’s Zoo and African Journey.  Polar Bear Watch offers visitors a look at the polar bear
via Tundra Buggy.  Maryland Wilderness teaches about animals in Maryland as well as other areas.  The
Children’s Zoo is eight acres and includes interactive exhibits, animal exhibits, a petting farm and a giant
tree slide.  African Journey offers a breeding colony of African black-footed penguins, chimpanzees,
elephants and an African Watering Hole with rhinos and zebras.
Some of the animals you can see at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore are gazelle, African elephant, African
Leopard, chimpanzees, Flemish giant rabbit, Plans Zebra, lemur, giraffe and white rhino.

Some activities that charge an extra fee are available such as the carousel, riding a camel, feeding a
giraffe and a train ride.

The zoo offers educational opportunities for local and out of state school groups as well as home school
groups and the general public.  Summer camps for kids such as A Day in the Life of a Zookeeper and
Animal Research and Conservation are also available.

  • A discount is offered to groups of 15 or more.  
    Reservations are required.

  • A military discount is offered to active and
    retired military personnel when bought at your
    local office.

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore Details

Regular ticket prices for March through December on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are Adult $16.50, Child
2-11 $11.50, Senior $13.50 and under 2 are FREE.  On Monday -Thursday prices are Adults $14.50, Child
2-11 $10.50, Senior $12.50 and under 2 is FREE.

Regular ticket prices in January and February are Adult $8, Child 2-11 $5.50, Senior $6.50 and under 2 are
FREE on all days.

The zoo is open in the months of January and February only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
 The Maryland Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

The zoo hours are from March through December from 10 am to 4 pm.
 In January and February from 10 am to 4 pm.

Parking is FREE.

Picnic tables are available throughout the park.
