Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, also known as Fort Wayne Zoo, is for more then children. It’s 38 acres include such areas as African Journey, Australian Adventure and Indonesian Rain Forest. In each area of the zoo, you will find animals related to that area.
In African Journey, you will travel through a savannah, rock formations and an African Village. You can climb up on a 14-foot platform for feed the giraffes and watch animals live on the Savannah Cam at the Zebra Research Station. Some animals you will see in this area are zebras, wildebeest, ostrich, swamp monkeys, spotted hyenas, honey badgers and African Lion.
Fort Wayne Zoo’s Australian Adventure contains two large aquariums. A 20,000-gallon aquarium houses animals from the Great Barrier Reef such as clown fish, eels, puffer fish and coral. A 50,000-gallon shark aquarium has sharks such as the blacktip reef shark and wobbegong sharks. In addition, this area contains two 500-gallon jellyfish tanks.
Australian Adventure also has a After Dark nocturnal house that highlights animals seen more often at night such as striped possum, echidnas and fruit bats. Walkabout Aviary lets you explore birds like cockatiels, parrots, lorikeets and kookaburras.
This Indiana zoo’s Indonesian Rain Forest has a domed jungle with paths surrounded by tropical plants, trees and orchids that also includes a waterfall. You will see birds, turtles frogs and orangutans as you roam this area. A research center houses Komodo dragon, insects and snakes. Tiger Forest is also located here as well as Tree top Trail.
A number of other animals are housed in the Central Zoo area that has Monkey Island, a duck pond, Indiana Family Farm and a water play area for the kids.

A Senior rate of $10.50 offered to all those 60 and over. It will save you about $3.50 a ticket.
A group of 15 or more paying guests can save 10% off per zoo ticket. No reservation is required but one person must pay for all the tickets and all members of the group must be present.

Military families can receive a FREE zoo admission on Military Appreciation Day. This was held on Flag Day (June 14, 2012) this year. No word yet on 2013.

If your kids love the rides, you can get a Ride Pass for $20. With it, you get 12 rides for the price of 10 rides.
May 18,2013 - Kroger and Scott's Day. Show your Kroger OR Scott's receipt from May 15th and get a FREE child's admission with the purchase of an Adult's admission.
June 20, 2013 - Edy's Day. Children 14 years old and younger will be admitted FREE with the purchase of an Adult admission.
Fort Wayne Zoo Details
The zoo is open approximately from the middle of April to the middle of October.
Hours for this Indiana zoo are 9am – 5pm.
Regular admission prices are Adults $13.50, Children (2-14) $8.50 and Children 1 and under FREE.
Parking is FREE.
Picnic areas are not available inside the zoo. However, Franke Park right beside it and you can picnic there. Remember to get your hand stamped on your way out of the zoo so you can get back in.
There are five rides at the zoo. Zoo rides and some animal feed are paid for with tokens. Tokens are $1 each. Most rides are 2 tokens with the pony ride being 4 tokens. Animal feed is 1 token.
