The Brandywine Zoo located at Brandywine Park in Wilmington and has 13 landscaped acres. The AZA- accredited Delaware zoo is a smaller zoo with about 150 animals. However, it does have a nice variety of animals. You can see Bearded Dragons, clouded leopard, Ocelot, tamarins, Florida bobcat, river otters, capybara and many types of birds. One of the newest animals to make this zoo it's home is a Siberian tiger.
Close Encounters of the WILD Kind offers close-up views of the wildlife and information from zoo staff. Daily Keeper Watching is an engaging talk from zoo keepers about the animals and the ways that keepers interact with them. Story Time at the Zoo offers animal stories that are read to the children. Crafts and other activities may also be offered at Story Time. The zoo asks that if you have more then four children, you let them know so they have enough supplies.
Other educational opportunities are made available by the zoo for families, home schoolers and schools.

In the past, during July 4th weekend, Military personnel showing a valid military ID, their spouse and children receive FREE zoo admission.
A Senior rate if offered that will save you $1 -2 per zoo ticket depending on the season. Senior tickets can be purchased by anyone 60 and older.
The past few years, the zoo has offered Family Fun Nights during the summer. During these special evening hours the zoo offers $1 admission to everyone. In addition, there are $1 hot dogs and soft drinks.

Memberships start at $35 and include FREE unlimited admission for the year, Members only events, discounts on educational programs and gift shops, three FREE guest passes and FREE or discounted fees on over 100 zoos and aquariums in the United States and Canada. Brandywine Zoo in Delaware Details
The Brandywine Zoo website has a nice feature. If you click on the Animals in the Zoo tab, you will then see a list of all the animals that are in the Brandywine Zoo. When you click on each one of those animals, it gives a picture of the animal and a description along with information on what their lives are typically like in the wild. Some facts such as what they eat at the zoo are also included.
The Zoo is open every day of the year from 10 am to 4 pm.
Regular admission prices are from May to September - Adults $7, Youths (from 3-11) $5, under three is FREE. Admission from October through April - Adults $5, Youths (from 3-11) $3, under three is FREE.
Picnic meals can be enjoyed in the park. A picnic area is provided near Otter Pond. Food is also provided at a snack bar.
